Lesser-spotted catsharks live in the Western Atlantic, North, and Mediterranean seas. Check out the species profile page for a map.
They are completely harmless to humans and there has never been any case of an attack on people. Unless you count when they accidentally nibbled my fingers while I was feeding them by hand.
Most sharks are completely harmless to humans and your chances of being attacked by one of the few species which can do you any harm are less than being struck by lightning.
Just re-read this and realized it may be confusing. By western Atlantic I meant the Atlantic on the west coast of the UK but it is the eastern side of the Atlantic generally. Other species of catsharks do live off America but not the lesser-spotted catshark. Check out the map on the profile page to see what I mean.
