• Question: Why do you produce so much offspring?

      Because I want to take over the world!

      Ok, that’s not the reason. It is because life is risky if you are a snail and so even though I produce lots of offspring, very few of them will make it to adulthood.

      On average, every snail will only manage to produce one baby that makes it to adulthood and also reproduces.,
