It’s your job to decide that!

The St. Kilda wren, of course. Because wrens are fantastic, amazing little birds, and the genetic data from the St. Kilda birds can help scientists understand lots of things to do with how animals survive and evolve when they are in small, isolated populations.

Common cranes are the best because they are the most modest 🙂

On a serious note, common cranes are not that common in UK – there are only about 160 of us here. And we were gone from here for almost 400 years, becoming extirpated in the 17th century. To avoid this happening again it would be useful to be sequenced, so that the scientists would know more about us and help people in general to treat us better.

I’d agree with catshark – it’s your job to decide! If in asking us questions you find out interesting things about our iconic species, and want to find out more (by researching on the internet, going to a library or getting out in the wild to see them) then you should find it easy to decide which is best…

(Oh, and it’s the Emperor Dragonfly… just look at them go!)
