Brown garden snails – such as me – usually like to eat fresh leaves (like your lettuce seedlings), rotting vegetation or even the green algae that grow on things like concrete. When I am kept in the laboratory or as a pet, I eat all of those things, but my favourite diet is snail porridge – ground up grass pellets, ground porridge oats, and ground chalk – with water added to make it just like real porridge!
