This is a small bird, weighing in at round 25 g. St Kilda wrens are a little bigger than wrens found elsewhere in the UK, but they’re still some of the smallest birds on the islands.

We might seem quite heavy compared to St Kilda Wren – we wait 3 to 7 kg (6.6 to 15.4 lb). But we are far from being the heaviest 😉

Not very much. The thistle flower weighs less that a mouse or a wren…but the the whole plant can grow to be huge (bigger than a human) so that would weigh more.

Usually I weigh about the amount of a £1 coin however, just before hibernation I double in size to make sure I have enough fat to keep me going through winter.

The average weight of an adult lesser-spotted catshark is about 1.5kg…although that depends if you count whether or not it has a full stomach! It can easily consume an extra 0.5 kg of food if it has a particularly good day hunting!
