      Catsharks are not amongst the fastest sharks by any means. They prefer to hunt by stealth and sneaking up on their prey close to the sea floor. I don’t know of any experiments that actually measured their top speed. The fastest sharks are probably either the blue shark (Prionace glauca) or the shortfin mako (Isurus oxyrinchus) which hunt other very fast swimming fish in the open ocean at speeds around 25-35 mph.
