Hi megtew, thank you for your question! Owls have a very developed hearing system which helps them get around at night. The ears are located at the sides of the head, behind the eyes, and are covered by the feathers of the facial disc. The Barn Owl has amazing hearing powers, and one reason for it is that the two ears are placed at different height and have a different shape. This allows the owl to not only hear well noises above and below, but also to know the position of its prey with great precision.

There is a lot of interesting information around, for instance you could look at these two websites https://www.owlpages.com/owls/articles.php?a=6 and https://www.barnowltrust.org.uk/owl-facts-for-kids/barn-owl-hearing/

      Nice talking to you!
